Warehouse Management System Support and Development

Table of Contents

The client is a manufacturer and wholesaler of seasonal plant and gift-related branded products, with over 12 years’ experience working with single store operators and large retailers.

Requirements

The client has several internally developed, business-critical systems, and needed a software company to complete a risk assessment and provide some independent advice. Following this, the client asked us to support and maintain their software systems.

Solution

We met with the client to understand their current situation and provide an unbiased report which included risks and mitigations.

The client had developed several bespoke software systems to extend the functionality of their existing Warehouse Management System (WMS), which had limitations in relation to stock management. The client had also invested heavily in a new server but didn’t have the confidence to migrate their business-critical software to it.

The client didn’t feel the business had sufficient knowledge of their bespoke systems, and they were heavily dependent on a single software development consultant, which was a significant risk to the business.

Our main priority was to implement a cloud-based source control system and a change-management process. This meant the client could be confident that all their bespoke application code was securely backed up and all future changes were fully trackable. We then set up and migrated their software to the new server so that they can begin to realise the benefits of their investment.

Whilst migrating the client to a new server, we were able to learn more about the applications and take over the support and maintenance of their internally developed software.

Result

Since taking over the support and maintenance of their applications, the client has confidence in knowing that their critical systems are fully supported by a team of experienced software developers and project managers.

The client is saving both time and money and has better knowledge of their own systems. An agile, cooperative working methodology ensures that both functional enhancements and bug fixes are prioritised and progressed in accordance with business priorities.
