Last week, HAC100 announced their closure following the Covid-19 pandemic.
During a time when there is a strong and increasing need to close the digital skills gap, HAC100 has helped over 3,600 people, whether it be learning to code from scratch, developing an existing skill, or building the confidence and soft-skills needed for the modern work-place. They’ve helped the Greater Manchester tech community come together; mentoring, volunteering and judging, to ensure that hack events succeed in their mission to give young people an opportunity to learn something new.
We’ve seen amazing projects, challenges, and many worthy winners; and, as a non-coder, seeing young people bring their ideas to life and develop a working piece of software in under 48 hours opened my eyes to how fantastic the events are and how they help to showcase the exceptional talent in our community.
At Hack Manchester (arguably our favourite event of the year), we’ve judged and mentored young people for Best in Show, talking to all attendees, experiencing their passion first-hand, and sharing in their success. They always expressed how much fun they had, meeting new people and learning something new.
All of us at Koderly, wanted to thank everyone involved at HAC100 for putting on so many amazing events over the years, and we’re proud to have built a strong friendship with you over the past 8 years.
